Friday Positivity with Crissie Mullins

This week's Friday Positivity feature comes from our newest team member: Christianna Mullins! She will be our Client Experience Specialist and we are so excited for all the things she has planned for the position.

Communicating: from a Distance

My background is in the field of speech-language pathology, so communicating is very important to me! During this time period of social separation I have focused on the ways that we can communicate. It is unfortunate that we are unable to see loved ones in person, but I have found a new level of intentionality springing up in relationships. Fortunately we have several modalities available to us in our current world of technology.

Text Messages

It is a great time to send an encouraging text to a friend or family member to ask them how they are doing. Is there someone who you have been meaning to reach out to for a long time and have not had the time to yet? With some extra time on the hands it can be a great time to let others know you're thinking about them.

Phone Calls & Video Calls

It is incredible that we have the technology to hear another's voice or even see another's face and be perfectly safe and healthy in our own homes. I have done video calls with one person at a time and also with multiple family members and friends at once over video chat recently. Facebook and Google Duo are both great, free platforms to use. I have a friend who had a virtual dinner with multiple other families to stay connected and supplement the way they would have typically gone out to eat to stay social. Why not put together a distance-puzzle with a friend as a boredom buster?

Other Ideas

Do you have other ideas? The world of technology is your oyster right now! Let's make the most of our time!
